The Wizard of Oz(1939)

When a tornado rips through Kansas, Dorothy (Judy Garland) and her dog, Toto, are whisked away in their house to the magical land of Oz. They follow the Yellow Brick Road toward the Emerald City to meet the Wizard, and en route they meet a Scarecrow (Ray Bolger) that needs a brain, a Tin Man (Jack Haley) missing a heart, and a Cowardly Lion (Bert Lahr) who wants courage. The wizard asks the group to bring him the broom of the Wicked Witch of the West (Margaret Hamilton) to earn his help.

Moreover, the promise soon is revealed as phony. The wizard, respectfully representing the government or the bureaucracy is actually a phony using propaganda and illusions for his own gain and power. The phony Wizard

Scarecrow and Dorothy Gale: (Singing together and skipping down the road) We're off to see the wizard. The wonderful Wizard of Oz. We hear he is a whiz of a wiz. If ever wiz there was. If ever, oh ever a wiz there was. The Wizard of Oz is one because. Because, because, because, Because, because. Because of the wonderful things he does. We're off to see the wizard. The wonderful Wizard of Oz.

Dorothy Gale: There's Emerald City! Oh, we're almost there! At last! At last! It's beautiful, isn't it? Just like I knew it would be. He really must be a wonderful wizard to live in the city like that.

Wizard of Oz: Frightened? You are talking to a man who has laughed in the face of death sneered at doom and chuckled at catastrophe. I was petrified. Then suddenly, the wind changed and the balloon floated down into this noble city, where I was instantly acclaimed Oz, the first wizard deluxe. Times being what they were, I accepted the job retaining my balloon against the advent of a quick getaway. (Chucking) And in that balloon, my dear Dorothy, you and I will return to the land of E Pluribus Unum.

Wizard of Oz: My friends. I mean, my friends! (Ozians cheering) This is positively the finest exhibition ever to be shown...be that as it may. I, your Wizard per ardua and altar am about to embark upon a hazardous and technically unexplainable journey into the outer stratosphere! (Ozians cheering) To confer, converse and otherwise hobmob with my brother wizards. And I hearby decree that until what time if any I return the Scarecrow, by virtue of his highly superior brains shall rule in my stead assisted by the Tin Man by virtue of his magnificent heart and the Lion, by virtue of his courage. Obey them as you would. Thank you. (Toto growls upon seeing the cat in the woman's arms. Toto jumps out of Dorothy's arms) 041b061a72
