I rolled back to 10.6.3, as well. I, fortunately, due to the more experienced users here, save prior versions under a different name, so they are there if an update doesn't play nice. But LP10.7, for me, is as described above. Wonder if it's the newfangled Atmos option that is slowing it down, even when not in use?
Apple has released Logic Pro 10.6.3, adding the capability to reset Audio Unit caches and perform a rescan of all installed Audio Unit plug-ins in the Plug-in Manager. The professional audio app also resolves an issue where the app might unexpectedly quit when loading projects with plug-ins that use PACE/iLok copy protection, fixes a bug that caused a crash when Option-dragging a marquee selection within a folder, enables key label sets to be saved in Sampler, resolves delay compensation issues for plug-ins that require look-ahead, and ensures that audio tracks created by bouncing software instrument tracks in place are now named correctly. Keep in mind that the DAWs working via Rosetta 2 may still be lacking in performance compared to a fully arm64 compiled software, like Logic Pro X 10.6. That said, all major DAW developers are now working hard on arm64 software versions.
Unlike previous versions of Mac OS X, the goals of Snow Leopard were improved performance, greater efficiency and the reduction of its overall memory footprint. Apple famously marketed Snow Leopard as having "zero new features".[11] Its name signified its goal to be a refinement of the previous OS X version, Leopard.[12] Much of the software in Mac OS X was extensively rewritten for this release in order to take full advantage of modern Macintosh hardware and software technologies (64-bit, Cocoa, etc.). New programming frameworks, such as OpenCL, were created, allowing software developers to use graphics cards in their applications. It was also the first Mac OS release since System 7.1.1 to not support Macs using PowerPC processors, as Apple dropped support for them and focused on Intel-based products.[2] As support for Rosetta was dropped in Mac OS X Lion, Snow Leopard is the last version of Mac OS X that is able to run PowerPC-only applications.
